3 days in Bruxelles - The Heart of Europe
Belgium
The Office told me to go to Afghanistan and work as
Medical/Hospital director; which support Local MoPH District Hospital, They also
told me that I have to go to the Office in Bruxelles to have some small briefing as the project is quite special.
Voila! Finally, I arrived in the heart of Europe. I took Lufthansa
from Hong Kong and arrived in Belgium in 12 hours with short transit in
Frankfurt for 1,5 hour. The weather is really nice and fresh. Thank God it was
summer. Though there was small rain but generally it was great. I was surprised; the EURO Cup was not that exciting in the Frankfurt Mainz Airport. Honestly,
this was my first time in Bruxelles. I kinda confused because it was too late
and no more train or pubic transports were working. Even the ticket office was closed, so I just entered the train and they asked for the ticket, then I showed my
credit card as a payment and voila it was charged 5 Euro. Then I asked him how to
go to Jette, then he offered me help, He is Moroccan and he is Belgian Citizen,
He is really nice and has a really good heart. I do believe in the true Islam is
sparkling from his inner heart, He is totally different with the one like the
extremist who says themselves Muslim but does destruction and hurt another
people. He took me to the place that I am suppose to stay at (Eurocap Hotel). Thank you my brother, I do pray for you luck and great success for you and your family..... :-)
After 24 hours flight, for sure I was totally burnt out, I
slept the whole day and night.
The day after, I went to the central office to get the
briefing and did some paperwork, It was short so I could have another short excursion in Brussels. I went to my friend house and have a nice and little chat, enjoying
some beer and Irish Cream, I also try to legendary famous Belgian (not French)
Fries, It was fried twice with two different Oil. It was really crispy and had strong taste; I ordered Samurai sauce, which
is spicy mayonnaise. My good friend took me to interesting place and I tried
“weed” which was interesting because in Europe they mixed it with tobacco and it burst new fragrant and flavors.
It was a really good night in Brussels.
Next morning I had to run and tried to get my Thallys train,
I took bus which went to Jette Station but apparently I took a wrong bus, then
I took tram to Stadion direction, There I totally lost, then I asked the
driver of the tram, with limited English mixed with French, he explained to me
that I had to walk for 15 minutes to Aard station, OMG!!! That was my
expression with 35 Kgs of baggage on my back, it will be long long journey to the nearest station,
but anyway I had to! After 10-minute walk, I arrived in the Metro Station; I
took Metro number 2, which went to Bruxelles MIDI/Zuid Station. By the time
I reached the station, it was too late, then I went to the Ticketing office, I was
expecting to buy a new Thallys ticket, but voila! He gave me a new ticket for a
next train without any payment. He
told me to take the next train, which is 3 hours later at spoor/Voie, no 17. Finally, the train came and I on board the train to Amsterdam
FYI, Thalys is High-speed train, which run up to 300 km/hour, it
is international train, which connect Bruxelles to other main city in Europe
such as Amsterdam or Paris or even Frankfurt.
And that was end of my short journey in Bruxelles, and I continued my journey to the centre of fun of Europe !! Amsterdam !!
