I took fly Dubai flight to Kabul. It took 3,5 hours. The mountainous city is really beautiful with a brown layer; which I imagine it will be beautiful during the winter as it will be snowy. I really can’t wait for the winter!!!

My first week was filled with awesomeness, though the city is like in martial state but it is quite busy with a lot of traffic jam and a lot of armed guard looking for the house. There are also ISAF army personnel wandering around the city. I feel the Afghanis are really nice and honest.  They are also very friendly and so welcoming me. So it is quite contrary with the one that spread in the media.

I went to one of district hospital where I will work at. I make a introduction to every people with the chief of the mission introduce me as their medical director.
Today is the 1st day of Ramadan. In Afghanistan, the government reduce the working hour by 6 hour in a day.  I am also lucky that I can see the 1st moon of Ramadan.
Let see how will it work throughout the Whole moon of Ramadan in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Apparently I will be stationed in one of MoPH district hospital; which has been upgraded from Primary health care clinic. I just can’t believe that everyone is so friendly and welcoming me with warm heart and kindness. It is totally different with what the media show us.  The Afghani like to drink together and chat in friendly manner. Unfortunately this month is Ramadan, the month where we feast the full whole month. As the Afghani feast, the working condition becomes slower. The capacity to see the patient is decreasing a lot.

Deep down below the stubbornness there is kindness and friendliness that offer original hospitality of Afghanistan.  Many times I have to encounter in the situation that the Afghani get angry and mad and then realised that they made a mistake.
I have to deal with one patient who are really mad because they think that their family is not received a good care from the hospital, but at the end when we talk and discuss they realize that this is the way that medical do the triage. I  also realize that to deal with the special community you have to talk with hospitality and courtesy.
I become busy and busy to deal with all problem in the hospital, I also have to deal with the budget plan in the hospital; which really costly in operational view.
I also have to learn to become diplomacy when I deal with the official. I also have to deal with our superior from coordination office in the capital.

Anyway Kabul is not that bad, hospitality combine with the unique culture along with great view of Afghanistan make the city and its people is so special.
