One of the metro station in Dubai |
It took about 5,5 hour from Amsterdam to Dubai. Once arrived
in Dubai, I was really amazed, the infrastructures are extremely good and
sophisticated. Dubai is Islamic states that considered as Tolerant and
moderate. You will find majority of the people are foreigner! Most of them are
in service and middle class sector. I went to Dubai Mall and had chance to
enjoy The Dubai Fountain and stroll around inside the mall, which is the
largest mall in the world. It has Ice rink and has more than 300 international
brand stores such as Mark and Spencer, Cartier, and more. Right next to the
mall, there is standing the tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa and the
building is standing next to the famous fountain of Dubai. There is also traditional market called Souk which also stand next to the mall.
The city is really dry and hot as I visited the city in
summer; I checked the temp was 48 centigrade! The bus and the bus stop are
extremely excellent with very strong air conditioner. It is generally safe to
stroll around Dubai as the crime rate is low here.
I stayed in the guesthouse in Al fatwa area that is famous
with the night market; you will find a lot of cheap goods with a good value
here.
I also visited WAFI the ancient Egypt theme mall with the cool
Light show. The mall is the place of high-end brand store only. So be ready to
prepare high limit of credit cards or load of cash in your pocket.
Generally it is quite expensive to travel in Dubai but it is
extremely worth it!
I do love the city though it is hot and dry but I will
definitely recommend this city as tourist destination especially if you want to
shop international brand item with value price as they impose very low tax.
I also went to Afghanistan embassy to do my visa, as I have to go to Kabul to work in the hospital there. It took 6 hour to get the visa;
the Visa counter officer was really nice and helpful but the cashier in fact was not really
nice and friendly. It is like he doesn’t like me or doesn’t like to work there.
I overheard that he is an doctor but he is work in the embassy as cashier ????
It is really strange but it is the fact and funny. Maybe he is failed doctor and
bad one ?? Jezz
Who knows.
Right after I did my Visa application procedure, I went to Palm
Jumaerah, the artificial palm where The Atlantis stand on. You really need a
deep thick pocket to enjoy the place. I also went to mall of emirate where there is
Ski Hill inside (it is the controlled environment indoor snowy ski hill). It is really big, and
there are a lot of international brand store inside. There were also a lot of women
covered with Burqa and stroll around the mall. They even visit the lingerie
station, swimsuit, and expensive brand of clothes and Moslem wardrobe.
A night I ate nice Indonesian restaurant in our building.
The taste is quite expensive but it is authentic.
Overall, it is business and tourist designated city with majority of population is foreigner, you will need quite deep pocket to travel and do some leisure activities here.
